Booking Terms & Conditions

Last updated: August 2026

Thank you for booking with Northampton & Lamport Railway (“NLR”, “we”, “our” or “us”). By making a booking you agree to these Terms & Conditions.

These terms apply to tickets purchased directly through our website, our official booking system or in person in our booking office.

1.   Booking Your Visit

1.1 All tickets are subject to availability.

1.2 Tickets are valid only for the date and service shown on your booking confirmation.

1.3 Please check your booking confirmation carefully. If you notice an error, contact us as soon as possible.

1.4 Children must be accompanied by a responsible adult.

1.5 We reserve the right to refuse admission or remove anyone whose behaviour is unsafe, abusive or likely to spoil the enjoyment of other visitors.

2.   Prices

2.1 All prices are shown in pounds sterling (£).

2.2 Prices include VAT where applicable.

2.3 We reserve the right to change prices without notice. Existing bookings will not be affected.

3.   Ticket Delivery

3.1 Tickets are issued electronically unless otherwise stated.

3.2 Please bring either a printed copy or digital copy of your ticket.

3.3 We reserve the right to request proof of identity where appropriate.

4.   Refunds, Cancellations and Changes

Standard Train Services

Bookings may be changed or cancelled up to 72 hours before your scheduled departure, subject to a £5 administration fee per booking.

Cancellations made more than 72 hours before travel are eligible for a full refund, less the administration fee.

Bookings cancelled within 72 hours of travel are non-refundable.

If you cannot attend, please contact us as soon as possible. While refunds cannot be guaranteed, we will always try to help where circumstances allow. If We Cancel Your Train

If Northampton & Lamport Railway cancels your booked service, you may choose either:

•      a full refund; or

•      transfer your booking to another available operating day.

Delays

As a heritage railway operating historic locomotives and rolling stock, minor delays may occasionally occur.

If your departure is delayed by more than 30 minutes due to circumstances within our control and you decide not to travel, you may request a full refund for any unused tickets. Steam and Diesel Substitution

We always aim to operate the advertised locomotive.

However, operational requirements, maintenance or unforeseen circumstances may require a diesel locomotive to replace a steam locomotive (or vice versa).

This does not entitle customers to a refund.

Where tickets have been sold specifically around the appearance of a named visiting locomotive, any refund arrangements will be clearly stated in the event information.

Dining Trains and Special Events

Some events involve advance catering costs, guest performers or visiting locomotives. Different cancellation terms therefore apply.

Unless otherwise stated on the event booking page:

•      21 days or more before travel – Full refund.

•      14–20 50% refund as a gift voucher.

•      Less than 14 days before travel – No refund.

Where an event has specific published booking conditions, those conditions take precedence.

5.   Operating Heritage Trains

NLR operates historic locomotives and rolling stock.

Occasionally services may be altered, delayed or cancelled due to:

•      mechanical failure

•      weather

•      infrastructure issues

•      operational requirements

•      volunteer availability

•      circumstances outside our reasonable control.

We will always endeavour to operate the advertised timetable but cannot guarantee it.

6.   Seating

Reserved seating is provided where applicable.

We reserve the right to alter seating allocations or carriage formations where operationally necessary.

Equivalent seating will be provided wherever reasonably possible.

7.   Accessibility

We are committed to making the railway as accessible as reasonably possible.

Visitors requiring assistance are encouraged to contact us before travelling so we can make suitable arrangements.

8.   Safety

For the safety of everyone:

•      follow instructions given by railway staff and volunteers;

•      remain behind safety barriers;

•      supervise children at all times;

•      do not enter authorised operational areas.

Anyone acting dangerously may be asked to leave without refund.

9.   Photography

Visitors are welcome to take photographs and videos for personal use.

Commercial photography or filming requires prior written permission.

We occasionally photograph or film events for promotional purposes. By attending you acknowledge that images may be used in our marketing. Please speak to a member of staff if you would prefer not to appear in promotional material.

10.   Dogs

Well-behaved dogs are welcome unless otherwise stated for a specific event.

Dogs must remain on a lead at all times.

Assistance dogs are welcome on all services.

11.   Liability

Nothing within these Terms excludes liability where it cannot legally be excluded.

Subject to this, Northampton & Lamport Railway shall not be liable for indirect or consequential loss arising from your visit.

Our total liability shall not exceed the value of your booking.

12.   Privacy

Personal information is processed in accordance with our Privacy Policy.

13.   Governing Law

These Terms & Conditions are governed by the laws of England and Wales.

Any disputes shall be subject to the exclusive jurisdiction of the courts of England and Wales.
