Northampton and Lamport Railway Ticket Portal

A special opportunity on Saturday the 5th September:

• For one day only, you have the opporunity of driving a mainline ex-Lancashire and Yorkshire Railway "27" class 0-6-0 No. 52322 steam locomotive.
• You will be given a 20 minute induction briefing followed by 45 minutes of taking the controls  and 45 minutes of firing the steam locomotive.
• There will be two of you at the same time on the locomotive footplate and you will swop roles after 45 minutes.
•  The locomotive will be coupled to a Brake Van allowing 6 of your family and/or friends to join you at no extra cost. 

Terms and Conditions - Steam Locomotive:

• Participants must be aged 18 or over, in general good health and able to climb up and down the engine steps/ladder from the ground (approximately 6 feet).

• Participants must listen to and follow all instructions from staff at all times.

• Participants should wear stout footwear, robust clothing with long sleeves that will get dirty.

• Participants must not be under the influence of alcohol or drugs that cause drowsiness at the time of their experience. If staff believe this may be the case, participants will be refused entry to the locomotive.

• The Northampton and Lamport Railway reserves the right to require a prospective participant to undergo a basic fitness examination by the railway's Medical Officer.

• Participants must arrive at Pitsford and Brampton Station at least 10 mins before their booked experience start time and make themselves aware to staff. You will be met at the station entrance.

• A steam locomotive cab can be a noisy, hot, dusty, and sometimes a cramped environment. The locomotive vibrates, rattles, and can lurch unpredictably, causing you to lose your balance. There are hot surfaces that will cause burns if touched.

• The Steam Driver Experience is intended to be a very "hands-on" experience, which will involve moderate exertion.

Important Payment Information: 

• It is essential you book tickets on line as they will not be available on the day.

• We welcome you being accompanied by family and friends up to at total of 10 people. Please contact enquiries@nlr.org,uk if you require more to attend. A donation to the railway for those accompanying you will also be welcome.
