Special Events.

Heritage steam "Open-Day" and Accessibility/Wheelchair Compartment trains depart hourly between 10am and 3pm from the Pitsford and Brampton Station. (10am to 4pm on the 20th and 21st September). You have the flexibility of boarding a train at any tlme that suits you (Except timed bookings for the Accessibility and Wheelchair Compartment). You will visit our Boughton Station where the train will stop for a short while before you continue your journey to the departure station. If you wish, you can stay at the Boughton Station and return on a later train. You can also buy tickets and board trains there with a regular bus service available to and from the station.The return train ride last about 45 minutes.

What to expect:

  • Kids with a cuddly toy travel FREE and kids, meet the Brampton Bear on the Pitsford and Brampton Station platform.
  • Fun and games including a children's "teacup" roundabout.
  • A traditional return steam train ride through the Northamptonshire countryside.

  •  A Souvenir Shop on the station selling a wide range of gifts, books, toys and other goods.

  • The Pitsford and Brampton Station "Platform 3 Buffet" serving hot/cold drinks, snacks and freshly prepared hot food. There is a refreshment carriage at the Boughton Station.

  • There are Public Houses next to the Pitsford & Brampton and Boughton Stations to visit before or after your train ride.

  • Also, enjoy a walk along the Brampton Valley Way next to the stations.

  • Parking is free at the Pitsford and Brampton Station. Also, there is free public parking available approximately 250 metres from the Boughton Station.

Booking Information:

  • Tickets can be booked in advance or purchased on the day dependent upon availability. All children must be accompanied by a full paying adult ticket holder.
  • Rover ticket can be purchased for this event and Heritage Railway Association (HRA) tickets are not availble.

  • Concession Tickets also include Blue Light Card Holders, Serving Forces, and Privilege Travel Cards Holders (BR Staff Travel).

  • Adult Carers accompanying an Additional Needs Customer (2 Carers per Additional Needs Customer) must provide a Northamptonshire Carers Card or equivalent.

  • Pushchairs can be safely stored in the station during your train ride.

  • There are no toilets on the train. These are available at the Pitsford & Brampton and Boughton Stations. There is baby changing facilities at the Pitsford & Brampton Station.

  • Groups/Parties of 10 or more receive a 10% discount (added automatically when buying online).

Dogs:

  • Dogs are very welcome at the NLR, provided they are well behaved. You can take your dog on the train too, except for the Cream Teas, Cheese & Cider and Breakfast with Santa Events in the first class coach (assistance dogs are accepted). We simply ask that all dog owners clean up any "accidents" and also your dog does not sit on the coach seats.
